Volunteer Groups at Christ House
The following volunteer opportunities are available for groups, though we'd be happy to hear about any other ideas you may have! If your group is interested in serving, please complete a Group Application Form. You'll be invited to schedule an orientation, after which you can begin your service. Contact our Director of Volunteers if you have additional questions.
Meal Groups
Meal groups serve in the kitchen by helping to prepare and serve a meal, as well as assist with clean-up. Meal groups can further support our mission by providing ingredients or fully prepared meals to be served. Guidance on menu planning is available from our Director of Food Services.
Work Groups
Christ House also periodically needs groups of 4-5 people to come in and help with special projects (cleaning, etc.) for 1 or 2 days. These groups come from churches, universities, or other organizations from the D.C. area and around the country. Please contact the Director of Volunteers for more information.
Special Events Groups
Choirs and other performance groups are welcome to perform at Christ House.
Education
Some groups are unable to volunteer due to time constraints or group size. We welcome groups of all ages to visit Christ House for an info session and tour to learn how we are addressing the needs of those who are homeless and sick in Washington, DC. We provide a safe setting for individuals to learn about the challenges facing those who are homeless in our nation's capital, and how each of us can help.
