In-Kind Donations to Christ House
Christ House, Kairos House and Emmanuel House all benefit from generous donations of clothing, toiletry items, food and other necessities. Donations can be delivered to Christ House 7 days a week. Please see our wish list and our FAQs below for more information, or feel free to contact our development office.
Currently, our greatest needs are for:
- Casual men's seasonally appropriate clothing. Our patients are recovering from illness so they need comfortable clothing and soft-bottomed shoes, like sneakers. We could also use baseball caps or warm hats, depending on the season, which would protect their heads from the sun. Please no women's or children's clothing, or men's dress items, suits or ties.
- Razors and deodorant (no alcohol-based items such as mouthwash, please).
- Fresh fruits and vegetables.
Due to safety reasons and limited storage, some donations require prior approval. Please CALL AHEAD and speak with our Charge Nurse before bringing medical items for donation.

What do you do with my clothing donation?
Donated clothing is given directly to homeless men who come to Christ House for our shower program 4 days a week. These men take a hot shower and get a clean set of clothes and toiletry items.
back to faq'sYou have female patients; why don't you accept women's clothes?
Yes, Christ House provides care for women as well as men. However, our capacity for women is much smaller, and we simply do not have as great a need for women's clothes. In addition, many of our female patients are referred to Christ House from shelters where they have already received clothing.
back to faq'sWhy don't you accept suits, ties, men's dress pants and other "dress" items?
Our patients are here to recover from serious medical problems. Their clothing needs are for basic, comfortable and casual items. Our patients who leave Christ House to enter job-training programs are supplied with the clothing they need at those programs, and do not need a suit or dress clothes while at Christ House.
back to faq'sCan I donate medicines, medical supplies, and equipment like walkers, crutches and wheelchairs?
As a medical facility, Christ House maintains the highest standards of safety and infection control in order to provide our patients with the best possible environment in which to heal and thrive. We ask for your help by calling ahead before donating any medical items. Please ask to speak with the Charge Nurse, he or she will be able to tell you if we can accept an item or not, based on need and our storage capabilities.
back to faq'sCan I donate a bed? Furniture? A tv? A car?
For donations of large items, we again ask you to please call ahead. Ask for the Administrative Director. He will be happy to tell you whether we need an item or not, and to suggest alternative organizations who may need it if we do not.
